Sacred to the memory of Jane Frances, wife of Rev. Richard Drake M.A. Rector.of this parish,
and second daughter of Lt-Colonel Groves, of Boughton-under-Blean.
Married 19th Octr. 1848. Died 3rd Novr. 1853 Aged 44 years.
Her remains are deposited in the family-vault at Hernhill in this county.
In deep humility she strove to tread the narrow way that leadeth unto life.
And after long suffering was permitted to depart in perfect peace.
Two young children were left to the care of her bereaved husband,
who sorrowing yet not without hope,
erects this monument in testimony of her inestimable worth.
Tender love, enduring patience, lively faith,
and
Christian charity.
Blessed are the pure in heart for they shall see God.
The Revd. Percy James Drake M.A. son of the above
Deceased Decr. 5th 1879 aged 50 years
'To depart and to be with Christ is far better'
